UAE shoots down 15 missiles, 11 drones in latest Iran attack
Casualties reported across multiple nationalities, with injuries confirmed
ABU DHABI – The UAE’s air defence systems intercepted 15 ballistic missiles and 11 unmanned aerial vehicles on Thursday, as authorities confirmed continued aerial threats targeting the country.
The latest interceptions form part of a broader response since the onset of the attacks, with defence systems maintaining high alert and rapid response operations across multiple locations. Officials confirmed that the incoming threats were successfully neutralised before reaching their intended targets.
Since the beginning of what authorities described as Iranian attacks, UAE air defences have intercepted a total of 372 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles and 1,826 UAVs. The figures underline the scale and persistence of the aerial threats faced in recent weeks.
The Ministry of Defence stated that operations remain continuous, with advanced systems deployed to detect and intercept hostile projectiles. The coordinated response has focused on minimising risks to populated areas and critical infrastructure.
Casualties reported
The attacks have resulted in multiple fatalities, including two members of the armed forces who were killed while performing their national duty. A Moroccan civilian contracted by the Armed Forces was also among those killed.
In addition, eight other fatalities were reported, involving individuals of Pakistani, Nepali, Bangladeshi, Palestinian and Indian nationalities.
A total of 169 people sustained injuries ranging from minor to severe. Those affected included nationals from a wide range of countries, reflecting the UAE’s diverse population.
Defence readiness
The Ministry of Defence reaffirmed its full preparedness to address ongoing threats, stating that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the protection of the country’s sovereignty, security and stability.
Authorities emphasised that defence forces remain vigilant and ready to respond decisively to any developments, with operations continuing to safeguard national interests and capabilities.
